Even as a child I saw carousel horses differently than other children. For me they were overpowering compact creatures of immense energy and strength, daunting to behold and more so to mount. Large enough to cast a shadow upon a passing cloud.
I heard the Clang! Clang! Clang! of the carsouel bell signaling the start of the ride as an urgent call to flee.
I was looking up. He menacingly down.
